Beneficial Reuse Program for Auto Manufacturing Plant
Reduce Customer’s Overall Disposal Costs
In the automotive industry, manufacturers consistently face sustainability challenges to reduce waste and conserve energy. One large auto producer aimed to reduce VOCs by using calcium carbonate in its paint filtration technology. However, this process change resulted in another issue: the need to efficiently dispose of organic paint solids contaminated by the calcium carbonate.
After significant research, Nexeo Solutions established a relationship between the auto manufacturer and a local soil remediation firm. Instead of purchasing virgin calcium carbonate, the soil remediation firm would use the calcium carbonate generated by the auto manufacturer to alter the moisture content in the soil they treat, as part of their recycling processes.
